Defence spending is at its lowest since the 1930s. Our Armed Forces now have fewer personnel, ships, tanks or aircraft than the minimum requirement set by the Government in their 1998 Strategic Defence Review, yet the level of operations is greater than at any time since the Korean War.
The men and women of our Armed Forces bear the human cost of manpower and equipment shortages, shorter tour intervals, and inadequate accommodation and medical services.
Too often those on the front line pay for this under-funding with their lives.
